Beta Testing

I am looking for people to help me with beta testing of my applications before they are released to the general public on iTunes.  I think that beta testing is very important for a number of reasons.

Firstly I get so used to using the application that I often think the way I have setup the interface is intuitive.  A set of fresh eyes is always great.  I can check and double check and will not notice issues as I am used to using the application in a certain manner.  I also love feed back.  A good beta tester will give feed back.  If you don’t like something there is good chance other users will also have an issue and I would like to hear about it before the application is released.  Lastly beta testers often have great ideas for improvements to the product.  If the ideas are easy they get implemented immediately or are kept on hold for the next version.

So you still want to get sneek peeks of what is about to be released by fidgetware?

Here is what you need to do to become part of the program.

Apple has restrictions on how you can deliver iPhone applications.  So we have a small hoop to jump through in order for me to distribute the application to you and only to you.  It is not too daunting.

First you need to fire up iTunes and plug in your iPhone.  Your iPhone will be listed under the DEVICES section.  So select your iPhone and then select the Summary tab.

Your itunes will look something like the image in itunes_pic1.jpg.

You now need to click on the Serial Number.  I have highlighted it in red for you.  The Serial Number field will now change to the Identifier (UDID) number which very long.  Your iTunes should now look like the image in itunes_pic2.jpg

You now need to email me the long UDID number.  No need to retype it you can copy it into your clipboard.

On windows: Left Mouse Click on the number and hold it, press CTRL-C on your keyboard, and you are done.
On a Mac: Press Command+C to copy the UDID to your clipboard.

Now paste the long number in an email to me.  (mick dot lester at gmail dot com).  I need it in order to make a special version of the program so that you can load it onto your phone via iTunes.
